4 Weird but Effective Team-Building Activities for Remote Teams
(That's not another virtual coffee chat.)
Welcome to REMOTivatEd – your go-to newsletter for thriving while working from home!
Today, we’re sharing 4 unique team-building activities that are fun, a little weird, and way better than awkward Zoom icebreakers.
"Show Me Your Fridge" Challenge
Everyone takes a picture of the inside of their fridge (or just describes it).
Others try to guess their personality based on its contents.
Great for casual conversation and unexpected insights.
Mystery Sound Game
Team members record a random sound from their home.
Others have to guess what it is.
Bonus points for the weirdest or hardest-to-guess sound.
Two Truths and a Lie (Slack Edition)
Played over Slack or in a call.
One person shares three statements; others guess the lie.
Encourage bizarre but true facts.
Background Storytelling Challenge
Pick a random virtual background and make up a wild backstory about why you're there.
Example: A medieval castle? You’re the long-lost heir. Outer space? You got abducted but became CEO of an alien startup.
Great for sparking creativity.
Replay and let me know if you give any of these a try! It’s good to stay connected to your team!

Here’s one bonus!
Virtual Pet Parade
Everyone introduces their pet (or a houseplant/object they pretend is a pet).
Give it a funny name, a backstory, and unique “talents.”
Builds camaraderie and a good laugh.
🐾 Spread the Word!
We’re on a mission to reach 1,000 subscribers! If you know a fellow remote worker who’d love these tips, forward this email so Bailey can spread “pawsitivity.”
